Disney Has Revealed Footage Of Its Retractable Lightsaber

Last month I wrote about how Disney teased a realistic lightsaber at one of its Disney Parks' presentations and now we FINALLY know what it looks like!

In honor of Star Wars Day, Disney Parks officially revealed a first look at a retractable lightsaber that will first be used aboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser (aka the Star Wars hotel) that will be opening in 2022.

You can see in the video below that an actress playing Rey activates a lightsaber, but instead of a plastic tube being inserted into the hilt, an actual beam of blue light extends out.

Based on existing patents, the new lightsaber will use two strips of translucent plastic, and LED lights that coil inside the hilt of the lightsaber, but as of right now it won't be available for the public to purchase.

The official Disney Parks blog says that guests who experience Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be the first to see the lightsaber, but most likely not interact with it. We can only hope for the future to get here even faster!
