What do you normally tip someone at a restaurant when going out? Turns out we're all tipping less than we did before the pandemic according to new data published by Square.
The digital payment platform found that the median tip percentage at restaurants increased up to 22.22% throughout the pandemic, but then decreased by over 10% since the start of 2022.
The data doesn't say why people are now under-tipping, but tipping up to 25% of the cost of your meal sounds and looks like a lot, which is why many diners are pulling back their generosity when going out.
You can read more from the data HERE, but friendly reminder to probably set a base tip at 18% and adjust accordingly based on your service!
