Isn't it the BEST when the car in front of you pays for your order? Not for the barista according to a former Starbucks employee.
The pay-it-forward chain started as a random act of kindness that took off and a feel good moment of he day, unless you have to work it. Hannah Wilson, who worked for Starbies for nearly 7 years, says the pay it forward chain is actually "extremely annoying" for the people working the drive-thru.
Hannah says, quote, "Instead of paying for the people behind you, who can probably afford their own stuff since they're in line intending to pay, top the people making your drinks who have been understaffed for months."
Not every employee agrees though. One person commented, quote, "As a former Starbucks employee, this person sounds salty AF. It's really not that hard to keep up with, and i loved when people would do this for others."
