Get ready to see a TON of restaurants offering a vegetarian alternative to steak this summer by offering up grilled and season bread called "bread steak!"
In an article recently published at Bon Appetit, food writer David Tamarkin shared his idea for a savory type of French toast made with sourdough, custard and Parmesan cheese that could even satisfy steak lovers without eating meat.
Tamarkin also explained that he had previously given up meat for environmental reasons, but once Bon Appetit shared the idea to social media, it soon became clear that “Bread Steak” wasn’t exactly the alternative social media wanted to eat this year.
You can see what "bread steak" looks like below and it's at least worth a try, but if a restaurant is selling it for the same price as steak, then we're going to pass!
