These Wedding Songs Lead To The Happiest (And Unhappiest) Marriages

Touching and emotional first dance of the couple on their wedding with confetti and colorful lights on the background.

If you're planning to get married in the next year or so then you might want to be more selective on what song you choose as your first dance song because a new survey reveals that what you dance to can determine your marriage!

The survey polled over 5,500 married couples and found that couples whose first dance was to Elton John's "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" are most likely to describe themselves as happy compared to other couples.

Here were some of the other first dance songs "happy marriages" started with:

  • Stevie Wonder’sIsn’t She Lovely”
  • Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight”
  • Lea Salonga & Brad Kane’s “A Whole New World”
  • Etta James’ “At Last”
  • Phil Collins' "You'll Be In My Heart"

Also the following first dance songs led to couples saying they were unhappy, separated, or divorced:

  • One Direction's "Little Things"
  • Jason Mraz’s “I'm Yours”
  • Snow Patrol’s “Chasing Cars”
  • Randy Newman’s “You've Got a Friend In Me"
  • Michael Bublé’s “Everything”
  • Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect”
