Look Like You Know What You're Doing Even When You Don’t

We’re humans people! We don’t know every little thing when it comes to doing our jobs, even though our bosses expect us to.

In order to make it seem like we’ve got everything under control, CNN Business suggests that we:

  • Don't talk ourselves down- Imposter syndrome is a MF! Just because we feel like we shouldn’t be there, we’ll fill our heads with super negative thoughts. Keep it positive.
  • Ask for help when we get stuck- "Set yourself up on a positive note," says authorJodi Glickman. "You don't want to walk in and say: 'I don't know what to do,'" she explains.
  • Admit we're still learning and come up with a game plan- When you write things down, it becomes more believable that you can make this happen. AND, you’ll be able to see the finish line.
  • Be specific with our request- "People want to help, but they don't want to be imposed upon," expresses leadership coachNora Bouchard.
  • Don't become a broken record- If you’re asking the same Q more than twice,t here’s clearly a problem.Really think about what you’re not understanding before you ask again.
  • Get more training- Jodi says, "You don't want to go to your boss with a problem, come with a solution.”

Bottom line?Fake it ‘til you make it!
