The holidays are over and if you got a real tree you're probably wondering how to get rid of it. It depends on where you are in the DMV, but WTOP put together a list of what you need to know for wherever you are. Be sure to take off ALL decorations including tinsel and garlands.

Trees can be dropped off through March 3, 2023:
- Benning Road Transfer Station: 3200 Benning Road NE
- Guy Mason Recreation Center: 3600 Calvert Street NW
Maryland
Anne Arundel County
Anne Arundel has year-round collection for Christmas trees. Put your trees on the curb by 6 a.m. on collection day.
Montgomery County
Montgomery County has year-round collection for Christmas trees. Put your trees on the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day.
If you have an artificial tree you want to get rid of can ask for a bulk trash pickup.
Prince George’s County
The last day of tree collection will be Jan. 31. Have them curbside by 6 a.m. on Mondays.
Virginia
Alexandria
The last day of tree collection will be Jan. 31. Have them curbside by 6 a.m.
Arlington
The last day of tree collection will be Jan. 13. Have them curbside by 6 a.m. on their trash collection day.
Fairfax County
You have the first two weeks of January to put your tree to the curb. You can also recycle them yourself at the I-66 Transfer Station or the I-95 Landfill Complex.
