A lot of people ask me why I don't start a little side hustle with my cakes. Well one, because I haven't mastered the art of the whole baking part yet. I used box cakes for mine even though I make the buttercream from scratch and do the piping design. Plus the pressure of making it perfect for an actual customer's special even gives me nightmares.
Take for example those little birds nests on the top pf the cake, they were a happy accident to cover up the fact that my rosette skills need some work. But all is well that ends well right?
The cake inside of Funfetti because that's the husbands favorite and there were a bunch of kids that were going to be munching on it. As far as the icing its a classic American Buttercream that is super easy to make. Click HERE for the recipe.
As far as the piping for the birds nests I used the Wilton 1M Open Star Piping Tip. Here's a good quick tutorial on how to do it.
