Hurricane Florence continues to gain strength as it heads towards the southeast coast of the US. Being upgraded to a major hurricane yesterday, Florence is now a Category One storm with winds of 90 miles per hour – but she’s expected to rev up to a Cat 4 in the next 24 hours.

Serena Williams Melts Down, Loses In US Open Final
Naomi Osaka is the women's singles champion at the US Open. Osaka topped American favorite Serena Williams in straight-sets in Saturday's final at Arthur Ashe Stadium. In case you missed it, Williams was assessed a trio of code violations for multiple altercations with the chair umpire, Carlos Ramos.
In cash, the violations totaled $17-thousand. The final violation resulted in a lost game late in the second set. Osaka won the match 6-2, 6-4 to take home her first Grand Slam title. Williams was in search of her 24th Grand Slam.

Nia Franklin Wins Miss America 2019 Crown
Miss New York Nia Franklin is now wearing the Miss America 2.0 crown after winning the title last night in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Brooklyn native won the competition after demonstrating her opera singing skills during the talent portion, then encouraging young women to be positive about themselves during the Q-and-A section.

Nike Reports Sales Boost After Kaepernick Ad
Angry people and alleged boycotters aside, Nike is apparently getting a big sales boost from its Colin Kaepernick commercial. A new report says Nike's online sales grew 31-percent over the Labor Day weekend. That's a big jump from last year's 17-percent seasonal increase.
