As you can probably tell, my iHeartRadio playlist often consists of girl power songs. This morning this little dilly popped up and I was like YAAAAAAAASSSS!! I forgot how much I love this song.
Much like what Ke$ha recently went through in her fight with Dr.Luke, Kelly Clarkson had her own battle with music legend Clive Davis. After Clive released his memoir "The Soundrack of My Life" saying that Kelly was basically a hysterical diva she clapped back with a boss statement.
“So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my music,” she writes. “I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans. It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone -- even Clive Davis."

I don't wanna be left behind
Distance was a friend of mine
Catching breath in a web of lies
I've spent most of my life
Riding waves, playing acrobat
Shadowboxing the other half
Learning how to react
I've spent most of my time
Catching my breath, letting it go
Turning my cheek for the sake of this show
Now that you know, this is my life
I won't be told what's supposed to be right
^^^^THOSE LYRICS RIGHT THERE
They remind me of a time where I felt so stuck in my career, in my life that wanted to just throw in the towel and start over. I wanted to give up on my first love (radio) and take a different path. I was giving a new radio host some advice that resinated with me even today.
"Girl! Been👏🏼there👏🏼!!! Spent almost 6 years in a place that I DESPISED!! No creativity, no growth (or so I thought) , NO appreciation. I wanted to get out so badly I nearly quit. But in that time I learned a few things that were invaluable to my career. The love of radio is the bug that bites you and never goes away. I would have regretted it if I quit. Hard times breed badasses. When you've survived a situation you thought was like a chokehold around your neck there's nothing that's gonna stop you once you break free. Don't let anyone dull your sparkle lady!"
Funny that this one should pop up on my app this morning. Literally right as I was getting out of that situation this song was my jam. Pretty safe to say I scream sang this one on the way to work this morning. Who needs coffee at 4:30 am when you have Kelly!
