Setting up the registry is one of the fun parts of planning your wedding, but apparently you don't even need to go to a store to use one of their registry guns, or buy anything online, in 2023 for weddings!
According to a new survey from Realtor.com, 85% of newlyweds from the past two years asked guests to donate or pay a "down payment" on expenses like a future home/pet or their honeymoon fund instead of asking for actual gifts.
Most wedding websites like Zola, The Knot, or WeddingWire offer discounts on gifting someone money to put into a communal fund for the couple instead of buying physical gifts, but most newlyweds said that they are even opting out of registering for any gifts because they don't really need anything.
The interesting thing is that 33% of newlyweds said they did end up returning some gifts in exchange for money or credit to use on other products so it might be easier this year to just donate to your friend's honeymoon fund because at least you'll know they will use it!
