Hoody Reviews 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife' In 60 Seconds Or Less

I got to see Ghostbusters: Afterlife a few days early with Erick thanks to Sony Pictures and it might be one of the better reboot/long-awaited sequels we've had in a while!

The film takes place in the small town of Summerville and focuses on Egon's grandkids as they discover what their grandfather left for them after his mysterious death/disappearance and taking the Ghostbusters out of New York City actually works for the film.

Here are some of my initial, SPOILER-FREE, thoughts on the film and what stood out to me:

  • There are TWO end credit scenes so make sure you stick around until the very end, but the credits are entertaining, not spoil anything, so you'll have fun!
  • Mckenna Grace's Phoebe is the star/heart of this film and throughout the two hours of the film you fall in love with her as Egon's granddaughter
  • You kind of know what's going to happen in this film and I'm not going to spoil anything, but there are touching moments throughout!
  • We get the perfect amount of Paul Rudd so that his comedic performance doesn't take away from the rest of the cast.
  • I thought Afterlife did a good job of including the late Harold Ramis without disrespecting his memory and you can tell this whole film is a tribute to him.
  • There are a TON of references to the Ghostbusters films, but you don't need to be a Ghostbusters diehard to enjoy the film.

I'm giving Ghostbusters: Afterlife 8.1 out of 10 ghosts because while I thought the film had a rushed ending, overall, I had a great time with the film and it's definitely THE family film to watch this Thanksgiving holiday season that has something for old and new Ghostbusters fans! Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be in theaters starting on November 19th!
