If you were planning on going to a movie theater, which you probably shouldn't be because of social distancing, you might want to cancel your tickets and get a refund because several movie theater chains will be close for up to EIGHT WEEKS during the coronavirus outbreak.

Yesterday, Regal Cinemas, AMC Theaters, Bow Tie Cinemas and Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas announced that they will all be temporarily closing their theaters nationwide.

Several state governments, like Maryland, have already banned people from going into movie theaters so this is partly in response to that, but also the theater chains response to slowing the spread of coronavirus.

The decision followed Friday’s news that Regal and AMC were planning to limit theaters to 50% capacity to assist in “social distancing” and comply with the growing number of regional restrictions on large gatherings of people.

You can see every chain's official announcement below and if you are still looking for entertainment options Universal Pictures is currently offering many of their newly released movies as an On-Demand option.
