It's with a heavy heart that Peter Mayhew, who took on the iconic role of Chewbacca died yesterday at the age of 74.
Mayhew has been Chewbacca since 1977 and has appeared in all three of the original Star Wars films, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and his last appearance in costume was in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Joonas Suotamo, who had the distinct honor of suiting up as Chewbacca in the new Star Wars films under the tutelage of Mayhew will continue his legacy.
I wanted to share some of my favorite tweets I saw from the cast and crew of Star Wars just to highlight the man Peter Mayhew was and how he lived for interacting with fans everywhere.
A memorial service for friends and family will be held on June 29 for Mayhew and a memorial will be set up in Los Angeles in early December for fans to visit at Empire Con LA.
