Bride Auctions off Spot In Her Bridal Party!

A woman has taken being a bridezilla to the next level by holding an โ€œauctionโ€ for potential bridesmaids to bid for a place in the wedding.

The story was posted on Reddit by the brideโ€™s sister who said the idea was โ€œridiculousโ€ but her sister and mom are now accusing her of being โ€œselfishโ€ for not wanting to pay.

The 33-year-old stunned sister, who wrote under the username of SistersBridesmaid, said: โ€œMy sister was always very spoiled by our parents since sheโ€™s the youngest of four kids and my mom had thought she wouldnโ€™t be able to have any more kids.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t get me wrong, she can be very sweet and caring too, but sheโ€™s just a very immature high maintenance person. Basically she got engaged a couple of months ago and will be getting married at the end of August.โ€

โ€œAnyway she still hasnโ€™t chosen her bridesmaids. Instead, she has sent out dozens ofโ€ฆinvitations, to various girls. Itโ€™s an invite to attend and participate in a โ€˜bidding auctionโ€™ on the six spots in her bridal party.โ€

โ€œWhichever six of all these chicks bid the most will be the bridesmaids. Thereโ€™s also an auction for being her maid of honor. My sister and her fiancรฉ are using the money to fund the wedding and honeymoon.โ€

The baffled sister shared how most of the girls who have received a request to be in the bridesmaid bidding war are not close to the bride, who is aged 22.

And also said that the husband-to-be is rich, so the couple isnโ€™t lacking in money.

She commented: โ€œShe just has a really big social circle from parties and I guess she invited everyone she even vaguely knows.โ€

โ€œI just find this really awkward and tacky. Sheโ€™s basically having people pay to be in her wedding.โ€

โ€œI told my sister they werenโ€™t lacking for funds because itโ€™s obvious and she just said โ€˜well if theyโ€™ll already be bidding we figure we should put their money towards a great event for everyoneโ€™ as though this is an act of service sheโ€™s doing for them. Itโ€™s totally nonsensical.โ€

The sister said that she had always planned to attend the wedding but felt paying to be in the wedding was unnecessary.

However, this mentality hasnโ€™t gone down well with the family.

SistersBridesmaid said: โ€œNow my sister is throwing a tantrum that I havenโ€™t RSVPed to the โ€˜auction,โ€™ and got our mom on her side too.

โ€œMy mom says I will โ€˜look bad if I donโ€™t put in a bid when itโ€™s my own sisterโ€™ and called me selfish.โ€

The confused woman reached out for advice from the Reddit community, asking if she should cave and pay to be a bridesmaid or stick to her guns.

Many users were stunned at the bizarre story and couldnโ€™t believe the bride-to-be had thought it was an acceptable idea.

One user commented: โ€œIn my opinion her sister is highly manipulative. The nutters are those willing to actually pay to be in her wedding party. Why would anyone do this? I canโ€™t wrap my brain around it.โ€

Another said: โ€œSister wants to measure how much these people โ€œloveโ€ her, with actual dollar signs.โ€

And another wrote: โ€œI canโ€™t believe other people are going along with it. Iโ€™m getting second hand embarrassment from the whole thing.โ€
