All Your Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Questions...ANSWERED!!

You have most likely seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 this weekend since it earned over $145 million at the US box office and you most likely have questions about what happened during the movie! That's where I step in and answer everything you want to/need to know about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2!!

WARNING!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!

1. WHAT WAS EGO?

In the movie Ego tells everyone that he is a celestial which is kind of like a god in the Marvel universe, but in the comics Ego is actually a HUGE planet that roams around the universe (which they nod to when Ego's face is seen on his planet). Like the Collector (in the original Guardians of the Galaxy) and the Grandmaster (in Thor: Ragnarok) Ego is one of the "Elders of the Universe" who deals with the infinity stones!

Also he's Star-Lord's dad!

2. IS MANTIS A GOOD PERSON?

In the movie she is an alien Ego picked up because she was useful in helping him fall asleep, but in the comics she is a part of the Guardians team. You can most likely expect her to show up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as a part of the team and maybe Drax's love interest!?

3. WHO WERE THE GOLD PEOPLE?

The gold people were actually called "The Sovereign," which is a genetically-perfect race in Marvel. You see them mainly pilot their ships like they were playing an arcade game! Their leader, Ayesha, is the main one who talks in the movie and in the post-credits scene she creates a character named "Adam." In the comics, the character Ayesha was actually created by scientists, but she is MUCH better in the movies!

4. WILL GROOT EVER GET BACK TO NORMAL SIZE?

While the sequel takes place only a couple of months after the first Guardians of the Galaxy, Baby Groot will be full-size most likely by the time Avengers: Infinity War comes out! While this Groot doesn't have the memories from the first movie, when he becomes Teen Groot, during an end credit scene, it is hilarious!

5. WHO WAS STAN LEE TALKING TO IN HIS CAMEOS?

Stan Lee was actually talking to characters known as The Watchers! (Notice a lot of characters in Guardians having "The" before their names?) The Watchers are an ancient race of aliens who document life without interfering in it! They sort of follow the "Prime Directive" and don't do anything, but when they show up it means something is going to happen! Many think that because Stan Lee is talking to them about being a FedEx delivery person that it confirms a popular theory about him!

6. WHO WAS SYLVESTER STALLONE?

Sylvester Stallone plays a Ravager (the group of people Yondu works with, kind of like space pirates) named Stakar Ogord which many are claiming is the Marvel hero Starhawk! Starhawk formed the original Guardians of the Galaxy when the comics originally came out in the 1970s and he actually assembles that team during an end credits scene! You can probably expect them to pop back up throughout other Marvel films!

7. WHERE WAS MILEY CYRUS?

While she didn't appear in the movie, Miley Cyrus actually voiced a character named Mainframe! She appears in the end credit scene involving Sylvester Stallone and several Ravagers meeting to honor Yondu and reunite their team! She is the red computer voice and you can probably expect that team to be expanded on in the next Guardians movie!

8. WHY IS HOWARD THE DUCK BACK?

Howard the Duck is actually a Marvel property who first popped up in the 1970s and got his own live-action movie that wasn't well-received! James Gunn decided to put him in the original Guardians movie as the very final end credits scene as he got out of The Collector's cage. He makes another cameo drinking on the planet the Ravagers are found on in the beginning of the film. FUN FACT: Howard the Duck is voiced by Seth Green!

9. WHO IS "ADAM?"

At the end of the film we see the villain Ayesha back on the Sovereign planet making a new plan which involves a golden cocoon with someone called "Adam" inside! That person is actually Adam Warlock who is another Marvel superhero who plays a big role with the Infinity Stones! In the comics Adam is Ayesha's twin who has been with the Avengers and Guardians, but the most interesting thing is that he has an infinity stone in his hand!

At the end of the first Guardians film, director James Gunn placed a cocoon Easter egg in the film which he actually did by mistake, but you can most likely expect Adam Warlock to play a pivotal role in Avengers: Infinity War or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3!

10. HOW MANY INFINITY STONES ARE LEFT?

The infinity stones have been the one thing connecting almost every Marvel movie together and will ultimately result in the villain Thanos showing up on Earth during Avengers: Infinity War! While there are six total infinity stones, only five of them have shown up. Here is the rundown on where they are and what's unclaimed for:

  • The Space Stone (The Tesseract in Avengers) - Asgard (Thor's home-world)
  • The Reality Stone (The Aether in Thor: Dark World) - The Collector's collection
  • The Power Stone (The Orb in Guardians of the Galaxy) - Xandar (The home planet of the Nova Corps)
  • The Mind Stone (Lok's Scepter/Vision in the Avengers films) - Vision's forehead
  • The Time Stone (The Eye of Agamotto in Doctor Strange) - With the Masters of the Mystic Arts
  • The Soul Stone - ???
