I got to see Birds of Prey early this week and I got to say that it was WAY better than I thought it was going to be! Not only was it what I wanted the first Suicide Squad movie to be, but it is a redemption story for Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn!
First off I just to say that the soundtrack is really good and it's on par with the soundtrack for Suicide Squad! Also the movie is so colorful and is more of a Deadpool Rated-R than a Joker R-rating so if your kids are okay with Deadpool then they should be fine with this!
Here are some of my initial, SPOILER-FREE, thoughts on the film and what stood out to me:
- Ewan McGregor makes a good villain and his run as Black Mask was entertaining the entire film
- This movie can sort of be an end-story for Harley Quinn
- There IS a post-credits scene, but it's not worth staying in the theaters for, just watch it at home
- There are several nods to the larger DCEU and YES this does take place after Suicide Squad
- Wish we got a little bit more story on Black Canary and Huntress, but they might get a future movie

I'm giving Birds of Prey 8.2 out of 10 egg sandwiches and I'm definitely excited to see what DC does next with Wonder Woman 1984 after seeing this! Birds of Prey is in theaters starting on February 7th!
