Sad news for Trekkies everywhere because it looks like Star Trek 4 has reportedly been "indefinitely shelved."
We already knew that both Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth backed out of the project because of contract negotiations with Paramount after the most recent film, Star Trek: Beyond, but it looks like things got a lot worse.
S.J. Clarkson, who was planned to direct the fourth film, had to step down as director so that she can direct the Game of Thrones prequel series instead. Obviously you can't direct two things back to back, especially two mega franchises, but Paramount hasn't said who is replacing her or what's next.
We at least still have Star Trek: Discovery on CBS All-Access to get our Star Trek fix, but here's hoping they reboot the movie franchise in a few years!
