You may have finally got around to watching the third season of Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix during the Thanksgiving weekend and once you finished it got hyped for another season. Well Netflix decided to drop this bomb last night to disappoint every Daredevil fan.
That's right, Daredevil has officially been canceled by Netflix and won't return for a Season 4. While there will be no additional season, the previously aired episodes will remain on Netflix for the time being which was announced in Netflix's press release:
“Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.”
Daredevil will be the third Marvel show canceled by Netflix in the past two months as Iron Fist and Luke Cage were the first two victims of being canceled.
This means that The Punisher and Jessica Jones are the only Marvel shows on Netflix for the time being because they both have new seasons coming out in 2019.
Many believe that Disney has a part in canceling the Marvel shows on Netflix because it would more than likely try to bring these shows onto their own streaming service called Disney+.
We probably won't know for a while, but expect Punisher and Jessica Jones to be on the chopping block soon as well. In the meantime, re-watch Daredevil Season 3 and pour one out for "The Devil of Hell's Kitchen."
