Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a temporary restraining order against 31-year-old William Applegate, who allegedly stalked her Los Angeles home and attempted to break in. The order, issued on Friday (May 29), requires Applegate to stay at least 100 yards away from Carpenter and her home until a full hearing on June 17.

According to court records, Applegate first appeared at Carpenter's residence on May 23, attempting to forcefully enter by grabbing the front door lever. Carpenter's security team intervened, and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrested Applegate for criminal trespass. Despite his arrest, Applegate returned to the property on May 24 and 25, prompting further police involvement.

In her declaration, Carpenter expressed significant fear for her safety, stating that Applegate's actions were "among the most disturbing violations of personal safety and privacy I have ever experienced." She described his behavior as a "dangerous, delusional, and irrational fixation."

The restraining order also protects Carpenter's sister, Sarah Carpenter, and her significant other, George Smith, who reside with her. The LAPD detective involved, Peter Doomanis, noted Applegate's "disturbing and irrational fixation" on Carpenter in his declaration. The case has been presented to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office for potential criminal charges.

The hearing later this month will determine whether the temporary restraining order should be made permanent. Carpenter's representatives have not commented on the situation, and Applegate could not be reached for comment.
