Actor Bruce Willis has been diagnosed with Aphasia, a cognitive disorder, and a result will be stepping away from acting.

Willis' daughter, Rumer, shared a lengthy Instagram post revealing her father's condition.

"Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him."

The family asks for your love and support as they navigate this challenging time.

According to Johns Hopkins, Aphasia "is a language disorder caused by damage in a specific area of the brain that controls language expression and comprehension," which often leaves individuals unable to communicate. Aphasia is typically the result of a stroke.
