Now this is dramatic.

After nearly 20 years of hosting the Bachelor franchise (The Bachelor, The Bachelorette & Bachelor in Paradise), Chris Harrison is stepping away from the roses.

"I’ve had a truly incredible run as host of The Bachelor franchise and now I’m excited to start a new chapter. I’m so grateful to Bachelor Nation for all of the memories we’ve made together. While my two-decade journey is wrapping up, the friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime," he shared in an Instagram post.

Harrison was put under fire in February when he defended contestant Rachael Kirkconnell's involvement with an antebellum plantation-themed ball. He later apologized for his comments.

Former bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe are co-hosting this season of The Bachelorette where Katie Thurston searches for love and David Spade is slated to host this upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise.
