Winter Storm Warning in Effect for DMV for Sunday: How Much Snow?

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Northern Virginia, Washington, DC, Baltimore, and surrounding areas in effect from midnight to Noon on Sunday, February 7.

"Heavy snow" is being forecasted for the region and the latest totals being expected are in the 4-6" range.

Although the weather system is currently expected to start as a rain event. But it will quickly change over to snow, with the heaviest accumulations occurring between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM in the DC metro area between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM in the Baltimore region.

After a two year stretch with little snow accumulation in the DC/Baltimore area, tomorrow could be the second storm with more than a couple of inches of snow in two weeks. Early forecasts are predicting yet another snowfall event in the middle-to-later part of the upcoming work week.
