Kobe and Gianna Bryant's public memorial from the Staples Center is today.
It was about a month ago when we lost Kobe and Gianna, alongside Payton and Sarah Chester, Alyssa, Keri, and John Altobelli, Christina Mauser and Ara Zobayan in a horrific helicopter crash. Vanessa, Kobe's widow, announced the plans for the public memorial taking place at 10am PST, 1pm EST, at the Staples Center in LA, which a lot of players are calling "The House That Kobe Built."
The significance of today is that it's 2/24/20, which is Gianna's basketball number (2) alongside Kobe's later number (24) and 20 for the years Kobe was a Laker and how long him and Vanessa were together. 20,000 tickets were made available and over 100,000 tried to get them before they were sold out.
