The Lumineers to Celebrate 'III' During Intimate Album Release Party in NYC

The Lumineers iHeartRadio Album Release Party

The Lumineers are gearing up to release their third full-length studio album, appropriately titled III, on September 13th, and are celebrating with intimate show in New York City on album release day. While they will be performing some of their new music live for the first time, and detailing the making of their new record, fans from across the country will be able to tune in and watch their iHeartRadio Album Release Party live.

The Lumineers' new album III follows the band's 2016 Cleopatra LP and 2018 single "Walls," and showcases 13 new songs, including lead single "Gloria," plus three bonus tracks, one of which is a Leonard Cohen cover ("Democracy"). III not only relates to the fact that this is the band's third album, but also because the project is presented in three chapters that each focus on one of the three main fictional characters — Gloria Sparks, Junior Sparks and Jimmy Sparks.

Frontman Wesley Schultz explains of the idea behind the III chapters, "The chapter idea started percolating back in 2007. I have notes in my journal from that time about three EPs all tying together, but each one having a theme and forming an album. We were going to call it Love, Loss and Crimes. It just never happened — I had the title, but I didn’t have the songs. We initially considered naming this new album Love, Loss and Crimes, because we thought it had a good sound to it, but we ended up going with the Roman numeral III."
