Local Grocery Store Closes Pharmacies Without Notice

As of today, the new owner of Shoppers Food and Pharmacy has began to close its pharmacies.

According to NBC4, United Natural Foods sold its pharmacy inventory and prescriptions over to CVS and Walgreens and is closing all of its pharmacies over the next couple of weeks beginning with Annapolis, Maryland and Lorton, Virginia locations. UNFI provided the following statement: “As part of the continued evaluation of our retail banners in discontinued operations, UNFI has made the decision to sell the prescriptions and inventories at all 30 of its Shoppers pharmacies to CVS and Walgreens. The pharmacies will close to the general public through staggered closings to the new owners beginning Wednesday, April 24. We appreciate and thank our pharmacy customers and invite them to continue shopping at all our Shoppers locations for their grocery needs.”
