During last night's episode of 'American Idol,' Lauren Engle walked into the judges' room to audition with her brother-in-law on guitar. She revealed to Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan that she lost her husband, Garrett, in a car accident in 2017; she survived the accident.
She wow'ed the judges with her original song, "Compass", that she wrote for her late husband - and it was one of the most powerful auditions in 'American Idol' history.
In her package, she says "I've asked multiple times what my purpose is in life after the accident as to why I'm still here; so, today, there's still a purpose."
