iHeartTheTroops Auction Raises Over $57,000 To Benefit USO

iHeartMedia Washington D.C. and iHeartMedia Baltimore announced that the inaugural iHeartTheTroops auction raised over $57,000 to benefit USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore, a non-profit organization that aims to strengthen America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and things that they love.

“iHeartMedia is proud to support USO-Metro and the great work they do for our active duty military,” said Michael Preacher, Region President iHeartMedia DC/Baltimore. “We dedicated a good part of July to promoting the auction on all ten of our local radio stations in Washington D.C. and Baltimore. We appreciate the contributions of our listeners and sponsors, especially Corporate Traveler and look forward to making the iHeartTheTroops auction an annual fundraiser.”

iHeartTheTroops auction featured iHeartMedia Washington DC’s and iHeartMedia Baltimore’s on-air personalities including DC101’s Elliot In The Morning, Hot 99.5/Z104.3’s The Kane Show, 97.1 WASH-FM’s Toby & Chilli In The Morning and 93.1 WPOC’s Laurie DeYoung Show who promoted the event on-air throughout the month of July.  Listeners were encouraged to go to the iHeartTheTroops website and bid on a variety of packages including once-in-a-lifetime experiences with Taylor Swift, U2, Imagine Dragons, Metallica and more to raise funds for military families.

“We’re so grateful to iHeartMedia for their generous support of USO-Metro and the men and women of our Armed Forces who have sacrificed so much in defense of our freedoms,” said Annabella Riccio, Vice-President of Marketing, Communication and Development for the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore. “iHeartMedia's recent iHeartTheTroops campaign and their month long on-air and online auction were so incredibly successful, raising significant funds and awareness for USO-Metro and the many programs and services we deliver to our local troops and their families.  The response to the auction was overwhelming and all the funds raised will greatly impact our mission and remind our troops of the support and appreciation felt by the American people for their service and sacrifice to our great nation.”
