It's official. The Olympics will return to the United States in 2028!

The International Olympics Committee granted Los Angeles, CA the duties of being the host city for the 2028 summer games following their impressive "Follow the Sun" campaign to bring the games back to the States.

The last time that the United States saw the Olympiad was in 2002 when the winter games called Salt Lake City, UT their home and prior to that was in 1996 when Atlanta hosted the summer Olympics.

2028 will mark the third time in history that L.A. has hosted the summer games (1932 and 1984).

The United States has an impressive reign in the games, holding the most overall medals (2,802) and being home to Michael Phelps, the most-decorated Olympian of all time with 28 medals. In addition, the U.S. has hosted more games than any other country with a total of 8.

Paris will hold the 2024 summer Olympic games.
