Prince George's County Fire Department officials are investigating the crash of an Air National Guard F-16 fighter jet that has gone down in a wooded area near Clinton, MD about six miles from National Harbor.
One pilot ejected from the aircraft and recovered. The pilot was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The F-16 was part of the 113th Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard that runs routine perimeter missions to prevent rogue aircraft in the DC area.
Firefighters are working on the scene to extinguish the flames on the ground. No reports of injuries on the ground at this time. Some homes in the immediate area have been evacuated as a precaution to Clinton Grove Elementary School on Temple Hill Road..
According to WJLA reporter Brad Bell, it is believed that the aircraft came out of Joint Base Andrews.
