DC-Bound Amtrak Derails at NY Penn Station

A Washington, DC-bound Amtrak train was bumped in New York Penn Station by an inbound NJ Transit train, causing a minor derailment that sent passengers scrambling to safety.

The NJ Transit train appeared to have clipped the back of the Amtrak Acela that was parked at the platform accepting passengers. Damage was visible along the side of the NJ Transit train.

Washington, DC Radio Personality Toby Knapp and HOT 99.5 Program Director Tommy Chuck were on board the Amtrak train when it was struck. They were among the evacuees moved to another train along with RCA Records Executive Joe Daddio, who played an important role in the career of Justin Timberlake.

No injuries were reported.

According to officials, Amtrak is slightly delayed in and out of New York Penn Station while NJ Transit service has been halted and redirected to Hoboken.
