After six years in the region, hhgregg will be closing all of its stores in the Mid-Atlantic area including 10 stores in the DC area.
The struggling retailer is closing 88 stores total to try and return the company to profitability. Three distribution centers will also close, one of which is located in Brandywine, MD
After the closures, 132 stores will remain in operation. The local closures will affect about 1,500 employees.
In an effort to clear out inventory, stores being closed are expected to be sold at deep discounts before they lock their doors forever in Mid-April.
