Walk to End HIV | Washington DC | 12.7.24

WHAT: Walk to end HIV

WHERE: Anacostia Park - 1500 Anacostia Drive SE Washington, DC 20020

EVENT TIME: Saturday, 12/7/24 from 8-11am EST

Held for the past 38 years, the Walk to End HIV is Whitman-Walker’s signature fundraiser that calls on thousands to strap up their shoes and walk or run to support WW’s mission of providing dependable, high-quality, comprehensive and accessible health care to those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. In a city where two percent of adults are known to have HIV, many more are infected but don’t know their status and young people ages 13 to 24 represent nearly 20% of new HIV diagnoses, the Walk to End HIV plays a vital role in Whitman-Walker’s mission to end the HIV epidemic in the District of Columbia. We remain committed to our long-time HIV survivors and resolute to stop new cases of HIV with health education and innovative prevention methods such as PrEP and PEP. For over fifty years, Whitman-Walker has been a leader locally and nationally as a first responder and care-provider for those living with HIV; a leader in LGBTQ care and advocacy; a research center working to discover breakthroughs in HIV treatment and prevention science; and a trusted partner in times of crisis whether it be the AIDS epidemic or the COVID-19 pandemic.

There is still much work to be done and we need you. Funds raised through the Walk to End HIV help us to expand support services, increase access and create new methods of connecting to our most at-risk populations. By registering and fundraising you can help us to fight stigma and save lives.
