Apparently Drumstick Never Melt In The Sun?

There's serious controversy brewing on TikTok over just what the hell is going on with Nestlé Drumstick.  A number of influencers have been posting on their TikTok pages over the past week, sharing their shocking realization that the popular Dumstick just would not melt! They tested this theory out for large durations of time, and still..NOTHING!

A TikToker even went as far as to test the theory out by leaving the ice cream out for 22 hours! She shared a video showing the ice cream in perfect condition after being left out. She goes on to explain how the revelation woke her up and she will no longer feed the famous sweet treat to her kids anymore.

You may be wondering how milk is able to hold its frozen state for so long while being in room temperature. Well, it's not actually dairy! While it can seem concerning, it all comes down to reading the packaging correctly. You see, these Drumsticks aren't made with ice cream, but rather "frozen dairy dessert," which differs in ingredients. Most simply put, ice cream is made of milk solids or fats, whereas frozen desserts use vegetable oil, or Vanaspati.

Specifically, ingredients like the guar gum listed in the ingredients are used to thicken, stabilize, add texture to food, and yes, help prevent ice cream from melting!

The ice cream sandwiches in question make use of very simple, commonly-used food techniques that help slow the melting process. The spokesperson added, this technique includes adding thickener to the cream, creating a honeycomb-like structure that helps to slow the melting process. When the product starts to melt, and the liquid evaporates, you are left with what appears to be foam.

If you are looking to go additive-free for your ice cream, you may want to try making your own, But, fair warning, these scoops will melt — so eat it quickly!
