*Do not look directly at the sun without protective glasses*
The Solar Eclipse is Monday April 8th and while the DMV isn't in the path of totality, more than 90% of the sun will be blocked by the moon (depending on where you're watching from).
In the DMV, the eclipse will begin around 2pm and the maximum eclipse will be around 3:20 p.m. (exact time depends on where you are watching from.)
Make sure you are wearing special eclipse glasses or use a pinhole projector so you don't damage your eyes.
