Things Waiters Secretly Do to Make Your Meal Special

Dining out isn’t necessarily a magical experience, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some restaurant wizardry happening. There are lots of things that servers do behind the scenes that help make a dining experience a good one.

Pouring hot, fresh coffee into a cold mug does nothing for the integrity of the coffee, so very often a server will first pour hot water into the cup, swish it around a little bit, pour it out, and then refill it with coffee. You would never realize that someone went to great lengths to keep the coffee warmer for an extended period of time.

When making a cocktail, bartenders frequently fill a cocktail glass with ice water and leave it there. That vodka Red Bull is supposed to taste even better when poured into a chilled glass

In most cases, hot chocolate ordered from a restaurant consists of a packet of powdered Swiss Miss mixed with hot water and swirled using a plastic straw. Some servers like to add a dash of chocolate syrup to their depressing rendition of hot chocolate to make it seem a bit more luxurious.

I don't know about you, but I suddenly don't feel as luxe when going out to eat!
