"Avalanching" is the Latest Dating Trend You Need To Be Aware of

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and if you're looking for a date you are not alone. Swiping on dating apps increase leading up to Feb. 14th with 79% of singles admitting to swiping more in January. But, because of this and the impending holiday, there is a new trend known as "avalanching" and it can hurt your chances of lasting connection.

Avalanching is when online daters throw out their regular dating “non-negotiables” (like age and location) so that they can secure a date for Valentine's Day. The problem with avalanching is you are more likely to brush aside red flags and typical deal breakers.

One expert says that "avalanching' means you're more likely to settle for someone sub-par and mess up your chances of finding a lasting match. Instead, they advises singles to embrace “intentional dating,” whereby they don’t throw their non-negotiables out the window.
