Ok it's not shocking to find out that cutting social media use down will improve your mental health. Recently, the U.S. Surgeon General issued a health warning about teen's social media use.
But a study from a team at Iowa State Universityhas put a number on just how much social media we should consume. Researcher found that when a college student participants limited social media usage to just 30 minutes daily, participants had lower anxiety, depression and more.
If you're looking to place a timer on your social media use, there are apps that can help, like Opal, or there's a feature on iPhones to tell you when you've reached your limit.
To find it:
- Go to Settings > Screen Time, then turn on Screen Time if you haven't already.
- Tap App Limits, then tap Add Limit.
- Select one or more app categories.
- Tap Next, then set the amount of time allowed. ...
- When you finish setting limits, tap Add.
