Eggnog Actually Has Some Health Benefits

It's the time of the year where you switch out your normal post-work drink for some eggnog and it turns out that everyone's favorite holiday drink has health benefits!

The traditional winter drink made with eggs, cream, nutmeg and spiked with alcohol has been around for hundreds of years, but it may surprise you to know this old school boozy beverage actually packs these health benefits:

  • A cup of eggnog has over 400 milligrams of potassium, about a third of your daily needs of calcium, some vitamin B12, B2, vitamin A, and iron thanks to the eggs and dairy products
  • One glass of eggnog contain between 10 and 12 grams of protein
  • Eggnog commonly contains nutmeg, which has anti-inflammatory antioxidants
  • It has alcohol in it!
