Tired of seeing all her friends get married, a single mom rang in her 36th birthday by wearing a wedding dress and a tiara and celebrating having made it “all this way without marrying anyone.”Michele Plum of the U.K. says she was fed up with seeing everyone around her getting married and “having babies everywhere” so she sent out invitations for her wedding-themed birthday party.
Plum demanded her guests put the date of her event on their calendars, even threatening to “go full Bridezilla” if they didn’t attend. The birthday bride also requested everyone dress in their best “bridesmaids dresses, your own wedding dress, cheesy suit, or as Elvis.”
In her invitation, Plum writes that she has no plans to get married, but she still wanted to celebrate with a wedding gown and a reception of her own. So she hit a local thrift store and bought the “cheesiest option” wedding dress and says her party was the “wedding” she’s always dreamed of.
‘What’s better than to be surrounded by all my friends and family in a huge polyester gown?,” she says. ‘And I don’t even have to go home and live with a man for the rest of my life.”
