This Couple Battled For Weeks Over A Baby Name and LOL

Coming up with the right name for a baby is no easy task, especially since it’s rarely one person making the decision. It takes two people to make a baby, so both mom and dad usually want a say in that monicker, and it can be tough especially when a mom and dad can’t agree.

One writer for Pop Sugar had that very problem when she was pregnant with her child. At 12 weeks along the ultrasound technician told them they were having a boy, and the writer says her hubby was set on naming him Joseph after his grandfather. The problem is the mom-to-be wasn’t exactly on board. She said it wasn’t that she didn’t like the name, more that there are already so many Josephs, Joes and Joeys out there, and she didn’t want something so common.

No matter how hard she tried to convince her hubby she couldn’t get him to change his mind on the name, but luckily for the couple, fate intervened. At her 20 week sonogram the technician said the initial report of a boy was premature and they were having a girl. As the writer noted, “the weeks-long battle over a name was over. I had won by default.”

  • As for their daughter, she notes that they didn’t have as hard a time coming up with a girl name, and had narrowed it down to two. In the end, dad picked out the name because he met her first and said hello and called her by a name, which the mom was perfectly okay with.
