According to a new study, not getting enough sleep can age your brain!
The study, which was published in the Journal of Neuroscience, scientist took MRI's of brains after 8 hours of sleep as a baseline. Then after sleep deprivation. They found that one night of "total sleep deprivation" caused "significant changes in brain structure, making it look 1 to 2 years older."
However, the scientists also found that the damage wasn't permanent. MRI's after a night a recovery sleep would reverse the effects and the brain's MRI wasn't different from the baseline scan.
