A new study, published in the journal New Media & Society, has found that texting can actually SAVE a relationship.
The study looked at how Gen X handles their relationships through texting and found that they argue the same in a text as they do in person. And therapists agree it can be helpful at times! They say that when you argue over text you can use different conflict-resolution tools you wouldn't be able to otherwise.
According to Ketan Parmar, MD, Psychologist and mental health expert said quote:
"This type of communication can allow people to have some time to cool down before responding, and it can also allow for a more considered response. It can also be helpful for people who find it difficult to express themselves in the heat of the moment."
Obviously major disagreements should be happening in person, but for small disagreements it could possibly help.
