We all know that we're more grumpy when we don't sleep well & now there is apparently a correlation between lack of sleep and selfishness!!
A new study monitored people's brains after a good night of sleep versus a bad night of sleep. The participants were then asked to fill out a behavior questionnaire which asked what they would do in certain situations.
What's interesting from this study is that researchers also took MRIs on the participants brains and found that the part of the brain that's associated with empathy is less active after a bad night of sleep.
The study also stated that participants “demonstrated a significant decrease in the desire to help others under conditions of sleep deprivation."
