Looking at Water is Good For Your Mental Health

Research has revealed that being near water boosts your mental health.

Dr. Natalie Azar, NBC News medical contributor said, quote, “If you are in a body of water, your internal state just becomes calm. It's something that I think we've all experienced, but never we've never really been intentional about."

Here's how it can benefit your mental health:

  • It creates a sense of awe.
  • It provides soothing sensory experiences. 
  • It facilitates mindfulness and reflection. 

If you can't be around water physically, "urban water counts" says Dr. Azar. This includes river, canals, fountains, and even pools & bathtubs. You can also get some benefits from just listening to water or watching videos of water
