Tiktoker, Ali Koca, went viral talking about a food service scam that cost one family $6,000.
The family was staying in a hotel & decided to order room service using the dad's debit card. They called the number on what they thought was the hotels' room service line, placed their order, and gave dad's card info. They waited well over an hour and got no food, so the dad went down to see what was going on.
Turns out the number they called was NOT the hotel room service line. The number was on a pamphlet that was pushed under the door from scammers. The dod immediately checked his bank account and saw more than $6,000 had been withdrawn.
One commenter said, “Yesss! this is so true! I worked at a front desk and it happens so often. Never order from those flyers!!!! They’re usually pizza flyers.
Another said, “They should never ask for card info when you order room service, it just comes when you order it and it’s added into the bill after."
Ali suggests calling the front desk to make sure the menu you are ordering from is legit.
