Have you ever matched with someone on Tinder or another dating app and thought they looked good on paper, but after you met them in-person or did more research you found out there was more going on? Tinder wants to make the process even easier!
Starting this week users on Tinder will be able to run background checks on a potential match through the app's Safety Center thanks to a partnership between the app and a non-profit that runs online background checks called Garbo.
Tinder will offer two free background check searches to each user and after those two freebies, each search will cost $2.50 plus a small processing fee, but for the most part all you need is your match's name and their phone number to run a background check on them.
Garbo only includes information “relevant to the user’s safety,” like a history of violent crime arrest and convictions and sex offender registry records, but if a potential match seems too good on face-value, then this might be the perfect way to find out who they truly are.
