How much were you planning to spend on Valentine's Day this year? Turns out most Americans are spending at least $200 this year according to a new survey by LendingTree!
The survey found that on average we'll all spend almost 44% more on Valentine's Day this year compared to last year, which if you think about it makes sense since most of us resorted to staying in because of the pandemic.
Now this doesn't mean that people are spending that much on just Valentine's day, but any activities surrounding the days before and after and it turns out those with a significant other will spend $208 if it's a new relationship and the number steadily decreases the longer a couple has been together.
The survey also asked respondents how they were celebrating this year and here were the top responses in case you need some inspiration:
- Go out to a special dinner
- Have a home cooked meal
- Get takeout and eat at home
- We don’t really celebrate
- Take a short trip
- Celebrate virtually
