If you had to tally up all the times you weren't really doing anything how much time would you think you wasted? Turns out the average person wastes almost 26 days a year doing nothing according to a new poll!

The poll came from Duolingo (aka the green owl you follow on TikTok) and finds that the average adult wastes 26 days per year “doing nothing” which is about 12 hours every week.

Now "wasting time" doesn't necessarily mean staring at the wall and waiting for the paint to dry, but here are some of the top "time-wasters" participants agreed on:

  1. waiting on hold while on the phone
  2. standing in lines
  3. sitting in traffic
  4. browsing social media
  5. waiting for laundry to finish
  6. waiting for service in a restaurant
  7. waiting for a delivery to arrive

The study also revealed that there are about three times a day when the average adult finds themselves with nothing to do; however, don't let us judge you for spending your time how you want to!
