A new study revealed that 4 out of 5 pet owners feel guilty when they lie to their pet. How that number isn't 5 out of 5 still blows my mind.
We've all been there, you tell your pup "let's go for a car ride", you say you're going to the dog park, or somewhere else more fun than the VET. You basically bamboozle them to get in the car without a fight, but then when you get to the vet's office they give you that look of betrayal or they give you the cold shoulder when you get home. How do you not feel bad after that?? Obviously the only thing that you can do is to make it up to them!
57% of those surveyed said they give their pets extra treats, 55% give extra belly rubs or massages, and 48% play with their pet more to make it up to them. 32% of pet owners said they will spend more than $50 to make it up to their pet.
The guilt, however, goes both ways! We've all seen those guilty eyes your pet will give you after getting in trouble from something they shouldn't have done. Or maybe your pet has gets extra snuggly showing you "sorry" type of behavior... How can you stay mad at them?
